O Museu Afro Brasil, instituição da Secretaria da Cultura do Estado de São Paulo, recebe a partir do dia 12 de novembro (quinta-feira), às 19h, a exposição “Do Pó da Terra”, com 50 imagens em preto e branco feitas pelo fotógrafo Mauricio Nahas no Vale do Jequitinhonha, em Minas Gerais.
A mostra, que tem curadoria de Diógenes Moura, faz parte de um projeto que envolve o lançamento de um livro de fotografias e de um longa documentário, todos produzidos com um mesmo objetivo: revelar quem são e como vivem os artistas da região, em sua maioria mulheres.

O projeto Do Pó́ da Terra, idealizado pelo produtor e agente fotográfico Fernando Machado, tem como objetivo lançar um novo olhar – mais verdadeiro e sensível – sobre a produção artística em cerâmica e argila dos moradores da região conhecida por sua realidade miserável. Desemprego, seca, altas taxas de mortalidade, alcoolismo, violência e o solo condenado pela monocultura do eucalipto fizeram com que o Vale do Jequitinhonha recebesse o apelido de Vale da Miséria.
