Cinquenta pinturas, desenhos e esculturas formam o conjunto de peças da exposição “O Banzo, O Amor e a Cozinha de Casa”, do artista plástico Sidney Amaral, no Museu Afro Brasil. A mostra tem abertura gratuita no dia 25 de janeiro, às 12h.

O artista plástico venceu o Prêmio Funarte de Arte Negra 2012, que patrocina a exposição e a publicação de um catálogo das obras.
“Uma parte expressiva dessa mostra é formada por autorretratos. Utilizo do meu corpo como representação de uma ideia de identidade, de memória; fragmentos de meu corpo repensado no objeto das casas” – Sidney Amaral
A exposição também contará com obras que abarcam 15 anos de trajetória artística de Sidney Amaral. São esculturas em mármore e bronze e resina, além de desenhos e pinturas que utilizam técnicas em acrílico e aquarela.

Para Emanoel Araujo, diretor curatorial do Museu Afro Brasil, Sidney Amaral sempre trabalha em dois tempos: o da realidade dos objetos e o de se incluir como personagem que age de livre arbítrio na composição do fundo negro.
